Here in Australia, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewe have a land of stark contrast when we consider rainfall. On the coastal fringes and in our tropical \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNorth, we enjoy huge amounts of rain, and yet, in our red centre which comprises vast deserts, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003erainfall can occur less than once a year. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eRain is measured, discussed, predicted, and sometimes \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ecursed. The most precious thing about it is the way it brings new life to the land and signals \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003enew beginnings. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI grew up as a child in the tropical North of Australia and have fond childhood memories of the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003esmell of approaching rain, the sound of heavy monsoonal rain on the roof of our house, and the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003erelieving cool of the air after the storm. She began her musical journey in her schooling years formally learning violin and then cello. However, over the years she self taught and performed with many different instruments including piano, guitar, electric bass, and percussion. Currently she enjoys playing across a wide range of genres, including playing in local orchestras and concert bands.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDani’s first experience as a composer was as a singer-songwriter, writing and performing her own music and composing for local musical theatre. In 2014, she completed a Bachelor of Applied Music (Composition) at Box Hill Institute and began specialising in writing orchestral, concert music and film scores. Over her career she has written both original works and arrangements for various ensembles ranging from duets and quartets through to ensembles and full orchestras. She has also had the pleasure of hearing many of them performed live. Additionally, she has had her music featured in short films, advertisements and music videos; most of which were competition finalists. Built in 1985 as \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ea celebration of the Goulburn and surrounding district's fine wool industry, it is based on the likeness of local stud ram 'Rambo'. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAlthough Rambo is clearly spectacular from the front, most people actually take their tourist photos from the car-park side… \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"center\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e  Befitting Rambo’s stature in life and internationally famous ‘Big Thing’, the opening postcard in this suite features a small \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003epastoral interlude bookended by a brash fanfare and march. The swagger refers to Rambo’s obvious self-assurance–but also more subtly to\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e the lyrics of Waltzing Matilda. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"center\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 0.875rem;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e2. Robertson's BIG POTATO\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"center\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003ePromoting the main crop of this productive and beautiful area, Robertson’s potato was built in the late 1970s measuring \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003earound 10 metres long and four metres wide. Like many Big Things: however, it fell into disrepair over time, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eand faced being torn down until a group of locals lovingly restored the local landmark. P\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eassing through Robertson on several occasions, we developed fondness for the Big Potato, and it was actually the catalyst \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003efor this suite. The Potato’s postcard is melancholy, soft (like its mashed potato decorated interior), and full of yearning to be visited - and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eviewed as more than a big poo (which, incidentally, is just down the escarpment at Kiama). \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp align=\"center\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e3.
