Commissioned by the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors' Association (ABODA) SA for the 2022 SA School Band and Orchestra Festival.
This work was composed during the composer's residency at North Adelaide Baptist Church in 2022. This residency is part of Prelude, a national network of residencies for Australian composers, housed in historic buildings. It is a collaboration between the Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composer' Trust, the National Trust of Western Australia and the National Trust of South Australia. Prelude is assisted by the Australian government through the Australian Council for the Arts, by Create NSW and by APRA-AMCOS.
