Description
---------------------------
"The Butterfly is originally an Irish slip-jig, played in a gently lilting style. This version breaks away from the traditional style. It represents a kind of mental transformation, where the delicate gives way to a more determined and gutsy performance and where the unknown path reveals some unexpected moments of joy and excitement. Deepest thanks to Rachel Howley for her PhD work into compositions for wind band by Australian female composers. Also, to the Queensland Conservatorium Wind Orchestra and the students at Grace Academy for their feedback and workshopping of this piece." - Claire Petherick
