Description

---------------------------

Aurora Saturna (sunrise on Saturn) is inspired by the journey of the Cassini-Huygens space probe launched on 15th October 1997, weighing only 5.7tonnes and expected to be in service for 3 years Cassini made its own place in space exploration history when after 13 years it had:

Taken over 450,000 images

Completed 294 orbits

Discovered 7 new moons of Saturn

Mapped the surface of Titan

Discovered the geysers on the moon Enclasdus

Taken the first detailed images of Jupiter

Discovered and analysed the true makeup and form of Saturn's rings by entering

the planet's orbit and negotiating its way through the ring layers

The piece opens 6.7 years into the journey as Cassini finally approaches Saturn from the dark side and crosses into the light achieving the primary aim of its mission to explore Saturn's magnificent rings. The main theme describes the pure magic and majesty of Saturn and her 62 moons until the finale of the work where Cassini makes its final dive into Saturn's atmosphere where the journey ends. This tiny piece of man-made technology is dwarfed by the presence of the solar system giants including Jupiter surviving 13 years in deep space.
