---------------------------

This elegy was written after the passing of my father, John Klohs, on the 10th of February, 2020. It was written to honour him and pay respect to the life he lived, the example he set for me through his life of service to others, and the mixed emotions I experienced as I walked through the grieving process.

He was a good man. He was a man who served others at every opportunity. He was courageous and bold when it came to the principles of justice and fairness. He was able to connect easily with people from all walks of life. He was seemingly without pride or envy.

I sincerely hope the work brings warm memories to the mind of the listener, perhaps of loved ones they have lost and remember fondly. I also hope it brings with it a sense of peace and stillness as the final sounds die away into eternity.

I miss him and every day I strive to be like him, knowing that it is an unattainable goal, but one well worth the pursuit. Sleep now mate, you've earned it.
