"My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here,
My heart's in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer;
Chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe,
My heart's in the Highlands, wherever I go." Robert Burns
Australian composer Cam McAllister presents his through-composed four
part suite, Big Scottish Heart, for symphonic band.
The piece is inspired by a fictional story about a rugged yet proud old Scottish
fisherman named Forbes who sets sail on a treacherous journey to France where he
ultimately falls in love with a beautiful younger French woman named Magdeleine.
But... the Highlands are in his heart and his heart is in the Highlands.
