There are jazz love songs that are particularly poignant to me – ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’ and ‘The Man I Love.’ Both songs are speculative, hoping for something intangible in the future – this work is a response to this feeling, the feeling of imagining one’s future, unsure whether it is tangible. The choir goes through stages of unity, conversation, disparity, and poignant unity again. This work was the winner of the first ANCA Choral Composition Competition - Open Section, premiered on Sunday 12th April 2026 at Costa Hall, Geelong.
