This work is a music allegory of the Greek myth of Antigone. She is a key character in a number of tragedies, including the eponymous play by Sophocles. The daughter of Oedipus, her name gives tribute to her parents. Hers is a life of drama, borne of a virtuous remembrance of her brother, and as devoted wife and mother; seemingly spared by Creon her end is tragic, but also unexpectedly tragic for her enemies. - Alan Lourens
