Description
In Australia, summer is synonymous with an extended school holiday period. As a child, I always wanted my summer holidays to last forever. I lived in a small inland country town, and we had to travel a long way to reach the beach; a trek I did with my family each summer to meet up with our extended family for Christmas. The excitement of packing to go, driving over that specific hill during the journey where we could first glimpse the ocean we were headed for, the smell of the seaweed, feeling the ocean breeze, and knowing I would feel the sand between my toes soon enough... of course there were things I would miss while we were away, but for me nothing could compare to our holiday destination. Whilst summer will mean different things to different people all over the world, I hope the positivity and child-like playfulness of Overture to an Endless summer will resonate with players and audience alike.
